Patients with peripheral neuropathy generally describe the pain as burning, stabbing or tingling.
Diabetic Neuropathy
Diabetic peripheral neuropathy or DPN for short: is diabetes-related damage to nerves that are close to the surface of your skin. DPN usually affects the feet and the hands, but can also harm nerves in arms and legs.
Peripheral Neuropathy
Peripheral neuropathy can be a side effect caused by chemotherapy, other cancer treatment, or the cancer itself. Other causes include diabetes, infections, injuries, alcohol abuse, low vitamin B levels, some autoimmune disorders, and poor circulation.
Complex Regional Pain Syndrome
Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is a chronic pain condition. It can occur after an injury. It usually affects an arm or a leg. It can also occur in other areas of the body. In rare cases, it develops after surgery, heart attack, or other medical problem. The pain is often described as a burning feeling.
Autonomic Neuropathy
Autonomic neuropathy is a form of polyneuropathy that affects the non-voluntary, non-sensory nervous system (i.e., the autonomic nervous system), affecting mostly the internal organs such as the bladder muscles, the cardiovascular system, the digestive tract, and the genital organs.
Motor Neuropathy
Multifocal motor neuropathy is a rare disorder characterized by slowly progressive muscle weakness, primarily of the arms and legs. Signs and symptoms tend to worsen slowly over time. Muscle weakness and loss are the main symptoms.
Sensory Neuropathy
About a third of sensory peripheral neuropathy cases have no known causes. Another third is caused by diabetes. Physical injuries or trauma to the nerves, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, can also lead to nerve disorders.
Other causes may include infections, toxins (e.g. alcohol), metabolic or hormonal imbalance like hypothyroidism, autoimmune disorders, tumours pressing on the nerves, vitamin B-12 deficiency, and hereditary conditions like Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.
REFLEX SYMPATHETIC DYSTROPHY
Reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD) is characterized by a group of symptoms including pain (often “burning” type), tenderness, and swelling of an extremity associated with varying degrees of sweating, warmth and/or coolness, flushing, discoloration, and shiny skin.

Proximal neuropathy is characterized as a peripheral nerve condition that involves nerve damage, decreased sensation, and pain to thighs, hips, buttocks and legs.
